IEDL Update – January 2026

We are delighted to welcome two new members to the IEDL team:

Dr. Apostolos Thomadakis 
His research profile is available online. Apostolos’ work focuses on the interaction between capital markets, development finance, and sustainable growth.

Mr. Andreas E. Marinakis
Andreas is a PhD candidate at TOE-EKPA. His research examines the shadow economy, tax evasion, and economic development, with particular emphasis on institutional and regional dimensions.


IEDL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Greek Center of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE). This MoU establishes a robust framework for collaboration in research, teaching, capacity-building, and public engagement in the fields of international economics and development.

New Research Initiatives:

  • Dr. Maria Tomai has launched a project on Innovation Dynamics and Sustainability Trajectories.
  • Mrs. Phyllis Papadavid has initiated a project on Effective Post-Crisis Mechanisms for Economic Transformation.

Public Engagement:
Anthony Bartzokas and Pantelis Kostis contributed an opinion piece on Artificial Intelligence and the Greek Economy in the Greek newspaper TA NEA (attached).

Upcoming Conference:
IEDL is organizing an international conference titled:
Growth Drivers for the Greek Economy: Resilience, Inclusiveness, and Structural Transformation
in collaboration with the Hellenic Observatory, London School of Economics and Political Science.
